Welcome to the world of church planting that demands multiplication. With over 200 different language groups and a population of over 3 million people, we can no longer add churches, we must raise up churches that will multiply. Over 20 years ago, God placed a call on the heart of Ray Woodard, our Church Planting Coach, when he stood on the top of Little Mountain and looked over the massive, growing city of Vancouver, and could not find but a few churches dotting the horizon. He heard God saying, "Invest your life in seeing churches populate this great urban center in order to reach the world."
The purpose of starting new churches is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to lead people into a life changing relationship with Him. Through this effort, new churches begin. Here in the Vancouver area, we do not start churches to reach the “churched,” but instead to reach those who are at the heart of a very secular, post-modern society. The lower mainland and Vancouver Island is not a “post-Christian” society. It is a “never-was-Christian” society. Only 3% of the population are active evangelical Christians. Only 6% go to a church of any kind at least twice a year.
In the greater Vancouver area, God has started dozens of new churches in recent years among several groups, including Canadian National Baptists. Canadian National Baptists, through the leadership of the West Coast Baptist Association and in partnership with the North American Mission Board, has seen over 34 new churches started in the past 5 years. About Us
The hope… the dream… is that a true God-led movement is developing to a point that every language group in the region will have the ability to hear and worship in their own language. The lower mainland and Vancouver Island need more than 1000 new churches today to help accomplish the transformation into a place where it is evident that God reigns.
